Desai GGBS (Ground Slag)
Why use GGBS in Cemant Concrete:
  • In India Rs. 30,000 crores is spent on concrete repair every year. It is common to see cracks in construction and sometimes it leads to building collapse.
  • Concrete at large is porous in nature. Regular cement generates a large amount of heat resulting in shrinkage & temperature cracks. The combined affect of surface crakes with porosity in concrete play havoc on the life of steel. Therefore there is a pressing need of alternative product to strengthen concrete which combats deterioration of steel. We have after several test & experiments developed an alternative product viz GGBS which protects steel when mixed with cement.
  • Use of GGBS in the concrete generate less heat while mixing with the water as against cement. It also help to reduce the heat of hydration resulting less shrinkage and temperature cracks in the concrete.
  • GGBS, when mixed in the concrete makes it impossible for chloride, air and water to penetrate it. GGBS concrete prevents seepage and corrosion in the concrete as compared to normal cement concrete.
  • Concrete is vulnerable to sulphate attack on account of the Presence of Tri calcium Aluminates (C3A) in clinker. Reaction is formed with sulphate particles present in the atmospheric moisture and natural soil water, leading to internal stress & cracks in the Concrete. GGBS mixed cement concrete produces more resistance to sulphate attacks.
  • Over a period of time concrete reacts with atmosphere carbon dioxide resulting in a phenomenon called Carbonation. It also affects the alkalinite of concrete and reduces its effectiveness. As a protective medium GGBS helps to increase pH value more then 11.
  • GGBS concrete attains an optimal setting time with extra ordinary high strength exceeding 53Mpa. Over the years the concrete continues to gain strength.
  • GGBS can replace cement by upto 70% thus reducing construction cost.
